When Melissa at the Inspired Room was hosting a Procrastinators Party I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to join in the fun and get started on our kitchen remodel. I knew that I wouldn’t complete the kitchen remodel in two weeks, but I do feel good about what we’ve accomplished so far. Between juggling two on-going clients and my husband’s busy schedule, we were able to at least get started. Below is a before picture of our kitchen.
Our plans are to:
- Add crown molding at the top of the cabinets
- Install glass doors on a few top cabinets (at least five cabinet doors)
- Paint the cabinets white
- Add hardware to cabinets
- Install new counter tops
- Install a new sink
- Install a new facet
- Install a new tile floor
In the wasted space below our plans are to add a kitchen island and put white shelving above the island.
Well this is what we’ve done so far. Pictured below is my Sweetie planning the installation of the crown molding at the top of the cabinets.

Below is a picture of a cabinet we purchased at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for $25.00. This cabinet will serve as the base for the kitchen island. The shelving was purchased to go above the island.
I also purchased oil bronzed hardware for the cabinets.
We’ve also been shopping for ceramic tile flooring and counter tops. We still haven’t made a decision on that just yet but will in the next week or two.
When it’s all completed, I will be sure to celebrate and you’re all invited to the celebration.
Thanks Melissa for hosting this party and getting us started! It’s been a project long over do.
Blessings,
Gail
